Genesis 4:6-12; Heb 12:22-25
Being the Message Prepared and Delivered By Okunadewale Olusegun Isaac During Mid-Week Revival Worship Held on 15th February, 2017
Genesis 4:6-12
6 Then the Lord said to Cain, "Why are you angry? Why is your face downcast?
7 If you do what is right, will you not be accepted? But if you do not do what is right, sin is crouching at your door; it desires to have you, but you must master it."
8 Now Cain said to his brother Abel, "Let's go out to the field." d And while they were in the field, Cain attacked his brother Abel and killed him.
9 Then the Lord said to Cain, "Where is your brother Abel?"
"I don't know," he replied. "Am I my brother's keeper?"
10 The Lord said, "What have you done? Listen! Your brother's blood cries out to me from the ground.
11 Now you are under a curse and driven from the ground, which opened its mouth to receive your brother's blood from your hand.
12 When you work the ground, it will no longer yield its crops for you. You will be a restless wanderer on the earth." NIV
Heb 12:22-25
22 But ye are come unto mount Sion, and unto the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem, and to an innumerable company of angels,
23 To the general assembly and church of the firstborn, which are written in heaven, and to God the Judge of all, and to the spirits of just men made perfect,
24 And to Jesus the mediator of the new covenant, and to the blood of sprinkling, that speaketh better things than that of Abel.
25 See that ye refuse not him that speaketh. For if they escaped not who refused him that spake on earth, much more shall not we escape, if we turn away from him that speaketh from heaven: KJV
INTRODUCTION
What we are here for this evening is to celebrate, appreciate and appropriate the One and Only Blood that speaks
better things. Some many Christians are ignorant of the power and efficacy of the blood of Jesus. One of the weapons of our spiritual warfare is the blood of Jesus. Some of us play or toil about the blood of Jesus, while some in the world mock it. The reason is that both do not know the power therein.
better things. Some many Christians are ignorant of the power and efficacy of the blood of Jesus. One of the weapons of our spiritual warfare is the blood of Jesus. Some of us play or toil about the blood of Jesus, while some in the world mock it. The reason is that both do not know the power therein.
Another thing I have come to discover one of the biblical ways of overcoming challenges of life is by the Blood of Jesus. There numerous challenges facing several of people in life. Individual with different challenges.
Major Categories of Challenges:
- Financial challenges
- Spiritual challenges
- Marital challenges
- Physical/Medical challenges
- Academic challenges
- Challenges in Marriage
- Political challenge
- Socio-Economic Challenge
However, the truth that cannot be denied is that some of these challenges are spiritually caused. They may not be ordinary. Therefore, God has provided the way out of these menace via the blood of Jesus.
From the first two passages, I want to point our attention to two sentences one from each passage. In Genesis 4: 10, the bible says, The Lord said, "What have you done? Listen! Your brother's blood cries out to me from the ground.
The second sentence in Hebrews 12:24 says, And to Jesus the mediator of the new covenant, and to the blood of sprinkling, that speaketh better things than that of Abel.
I am made to understand that blood has mouth and can speak. In Gen. 4:10, after Cain has murdered his blood brother because God refused his own offering and accepted his brothers’. God told him, his brother’s blood cries from the ground that received his blood. In verses 11-12, I come to understand what sort of things that Abel’s blood speak against Cain. Hear what it says, 11 Now you are under a curse and driven from the ground, which opened its mouth to receive your brother's blood from your hand. 12 When you work the ground, it will no longer yield its crops for you. You will be a restless wanderer on the earth." NIV
So we can deduce here that the blood of Abel speaks vengeance. And so, Cain has to suffer curses, the ground on which he toil or labor will bring nothing but curses. Cain would be wanderer and vagabond. He would be homeless, without a base, restless till he died. So, each time someone’s blood is shed innocently, a vengeance follows it. God himself said the life of an animal is in its blood. Unfortunately, some of us suffer the similar problems. Some may be facing blood battles. Our forefathers might have shed innocent people’s blood and of which the ground still cries for vengeance.
In the book of Hebrews 12:24, we are provided with the solution. If someone’s blood cries for vengeance. Jesus blood speaks better things that cancel every vengeance or curse. Hebrews 12: 24 says, And to Jesus the mediator of the new covenant, and to the blood of sprinkling, that speaketh better things than that of Abel. The blood of Jesus speaks better things than that of Abel. It speaks mercy instead of vengeance. It speaks blessing instead of curses. It now left into our hands to appropriate, celebrate and appreciate the blood of Jesus. Challenges of life are so numerous. But, the solution is one. John 16:33 says, "I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world." NIV. Troubles of life cannot but come. But, we have been overcomers before now through the blood of Jesus. Romans 8:37 says, No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us.NIV. the blood of Jesus speaks for us victory over any challenge or trouble we may be facing either natural or supernatural.
FORCES THAT THREATEN OUR STAND WITH GOD
1. Trouble
2. Hardship
3. Persecution
4. Famine
5. Nakedness
6. Danger
7. Sword
8. Death or life
9. Angel or Demons
10. The present or the future Powers,
11. Height or depths
12. Anything else in creation
Rom 8:35-36
35. Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall trouble or hardship or persecution or famine or nakedness or danger or sword?
36 As it is written: "For your sake we face death all day long; we are considered as sheep to be slaughtered." NIV
38 For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers,
